Zip zip ...... If i were to write about this week.. I donapos;t think iapos;d be very proud of myself i tend to do things in the extremes.. And just about now, moderation sounds like a good word, to start with, for everything. I donapos;t know how long iapos;ll be up, iapos;ve had a bit to drink and iapos;ve remembered just why i donapos;t drink alcohol except in the form of wine.. Because itapos;s like drinking bleach to be honest.

New Computer

Iapos;ve been waiting MONTHS for the new MacBooks to be released. I bought one the very day they were. Itapos;s my first laptop, which I really need. Plus my desktop was crazy old by computer standards. 5 Years or so.

So, Iapos;m in New York City now, which is great. School is okay, but Iapos;m in a bit of midterm hell. I actually was feeling like I had a little too much free time for a while (each class only meets once a week, at night,) but I just started an internship three days a week, and now I have hardly any free time at all. Plus their is a new girl in the picture, which Iapos;m pretty elated about, but is yet another drain on my time. I think Iapos;m doing well in classes, but feel like Iapos;m not doing the networking I should be. I was never good at networking, and I really think its held me back. Iapos;m too shy and quiet for the business world. Iapos;m going out with some fellow students tonight to eat pork butt, so thatapos;s a step in that direction.

I am apparently ensnarled in some billing/collection agency nonsense with ATT, but will have to wait until next week to straighten that out.

Gisteren opende het jachtseizoen en dat was aanleiding om eens langs de poelier te gaan. Behalve met de filet van wilde gans van gisteren kwam ik ook thuis met 4 kleine filetjes van wilde eend. Waarschijnlijk is dit nog allemaal import. Nederlands wild moet natuurlijk nog een paar dagen besterven. De eerste haas mocht ik aanstaande maandag verwachten zei de poelier.

Tamme eend heeft veel meer vet dan een wilde eend. Bovendien is een tamme eend veel groter. Deze filetjes waren dan ook heel mager en maar net 75 gram per stuk. Ik maakte er twee per persoon klaar. Het was echt wild: we vonden weer een korreltje hagel. Van de saus van gisteren was nog een half onsje cantharellen over, dus maakte ik vandaag een garnituur en saus waar dat restje bij past.

Probleempje: ik gebruikte (olijf-)olie want de boter bleek op te zijn. Onderstaande recepten zijn simpeler met boter te maken, denk ik.

Gekonfijte ui:

• 1 flinke ui snipperen



• scheutje olie



• 1/2 tl suiker



• snufje kruidnagelpoeder

De ui zachtjes smoren in de olie tot die glazig is. Voeg dan suiker toe en kruidnagel toe en laat nog 20 minuten door stoven op een heel zacht vuur. Giet de olie af voor het bakken van de eend. Aan de ui heb ik het restje cantharellen van gisteren toegevoegd. Dat bleek meer dan uitstekend te werken.

Roomsaus:

• bakvocht van de eend



• 1 dl volle room



• 1/2 glaasje cognac



• 1 glas port

Bakvocht flamberen met de cognac. Daarna room en port toevoegen en heel ver inkoken. De saus is donker rose. Bijzonder.

Filet van wilde eend:

• 4 filetjes



• bakolie van de ui



• scheutje olie



• peper en zout

Olie opwarmen tot flink, maar niet superheet. De filets licht voorzien van peper en zout. Aan beide kanten bruin braden. Het hangt echt van de grootte van de filets af wat je daarna doet. Deze zijn vrijwel gaar,en ik deed ze -- ingepakt in folie -- nog een minuut of 15 in een oven van 60 graden bij de voorverwarmde borden. Laat ze daarna, ingepakt in de folie, nog even rusten. Het werkte prima, maar als ze dikker zijn moeten ze denk ik nog een paar minuten in een veel hetere oven.

Bord opmaken:

Op voor verwarmde borden een bedje ui, daarop de filets, en er overheen wat saus sprenkelen. In een aparte schaal er aardappelen en spruitjes bij serveren, uit de oven, met flintertjes panchetta en serranoham. Kies een mooie stevige wijn er bij.

Al met al was dit een heel mooie combinatie; onthouden voor een kerstdiner.

Im a healthy girl, eating�banana now. :D
Anyway, these few days were craazy, lessons were resumed as per normal trust me, its super-duper boringggg. I couldnt stop yawning for the�entire day yes. Guess i slept too much during the weekends. Haha. But i srsly dont have the post-exam mood now, which i know i should be having. Its�like im practically filled with�PW, GUZHENG OSLE every single day. Oh but i must say this is indeed much better than touching dead books everyday. Haha.

Anyway, had been hanging out with my lovely classmates lately after sch. Went to catch "Connected"�with xiaoman, lynette wenglin on mon. It was thrilling i swear I was apparently grabbing xmapos;s hand for the entire show. Haha. But yea, it was quite a successful movie i think. Been so long since iapos;d caught movies,�esp thrilling ones, that i still couldnt get out of it after the movie. :D As for ytd, me, jink, reina netto headed off to xmapos;s hse to catch "The Sixth Sense"�tgt We were literally scared out of our wits at the beginning of the show. I screamed for the v. First time cause i got a bad shock, and i think i gave xmapos;s 1 yr plus cousin a shock too�that he merely jumped for a sec, Jink was shocked�tho her eyes were closed too. Lol Oops I swear i didnt do it on purpose. Haha. Then it was Netto next, Reinaapos;s turn to scream. Haha. But yes, these girls never fails to�give�me a good laugh indeed. (:
Okay. As for now, i think i need to watch really�JOYFUL MOVIES to apos;cleanseapos; my mind, after�two�thrilling �gore�movies consecutively in two days. Oh dear.�(:

And�yea,�i got back my results today�And its like all the JC1s have to sit�tgt�in the hall, waiting for all the scripts to be distributed. The atmosphere was so intense indeed And i was still�the first rep to go up front to collect the papers. Oh man. And yay, thank goodness,�i did�pretty alright. (:�At least i passed all my papers and i scored well for Maths. Phy paper was surprising tho, didnt expect myself to pass the paper, thought i screwed it up. Haha. And whew, all i have for myself�was�merely�a sigh of relief- at least all my efforts are well paid off im contented. (:
